Family Weekend, held annually between mid-September and early October, invites you to reconnect with your student, meet other Cane families, and interact with University faculty and staff while getting a preview of daily life on campus.

In addition to attending engaging programs, activities, and athletic events—including a Hurricanes football game, you will also have the opportunity to explore popular attractions throughout Coral Gables and the Miami area.

To fully engage in all Family Weekend activities, we recommend arriving in Miami late afternoon or early evening on Thursday and departing Miami on Sunday. 

As we receive questions regarding date selection each year, please understand that Family Weekend is centered around the Miami Hurricanes football schedule, which is the most-attended weekend event. Between mid-September and early October, the primary Saturday home game with the highest allocation and variety of ticket levels/prices is September 26.

Schedule

The complete Family Weekend schedule, featuring over 80 events, will be available late August via the UMiami app. The app, free to download from both the App Store and Google Play, lists the up-to-date schedule of events and other helpful resources available during the week.  Once in the app, tap the person icon in the top right corner, tap My App Experience, and select Family Weekend. No log-in or account creation is needed.

  • How to Register

    • Everyone participating in any Family Weekend event must be registered.
    • Registration will go live on Monday, June 8 at 12PM ET
    • Online registration will close on Thursday, September 10 at 5PM ET.
    • Package changes/cancellations must be received by Thursday, September 10 at 5PM ET. After this, all sales are final and refunds are not able to be issued any further.
    • After September 10, future purchases will only be available on-site on September 24 and 25 while supplies last.

     

    Registration for Family Weekend must be completed online through your Proxy/Delegate Access account in CaneLink.

    Once you have created your proxy account:

    • Open an internet browser (Chrome preferred) from your laptop or desktop computer. The system is not mobile-friendly, so do not use your phone.
    • Log in to  CaneLink using your Proxy/Delegate account.
    • Click on “Family Weekend Registration"
    • Click on “Proceed to Registration”

  • Cost of Attendance - Base Package

    The cost of attending Family Weekend depends on your registration date.
    June 8 - August 16 $35 per family member
    August 17 - September 10  $40 per family member
    On-site registration $45 per family member

    • Entrance to most all Family Weekend events, including Friday Night Pep Rally, Block Party, and Food Truck Rally
    • Weekend Campus Parking Pass ($48 value)
    •  Herbert Wellness Center Access Pass ($40 value; one per family member registered)

    • Some event tickets may be at capacity and sold out, so we recommend registering for Family Weekend as soon as possible.
    • If you want to change or cancel your registration and request a refund, please log back into the Proxy/Delegate Access for the CaneLink account. You will receive further instructions about changing or canceling your registration after you log in.

        If purchased, you will receive your tickets electronically in September after online registration closes.

        UM students are seated in the student sections (111-116). If you’d like to sit with your student at the game, you must purchase a ticket for them in your Family Weekend section.

      • Enhance your Family Weekend experience with a private luxury suite rental. Perfect for larger groups, these luxury suites accommodate 14-28 guests for an elevated game day atmosphere.     • Countdown to Kickoff @ the Rathskeller (Saturday @ 2:30-6pm)
      • $30 ticket includes two (2) food items and two (2) beverages (soda, water, or alcohol). IDs will be required and verified by Rathskeller staff for alcohol
      • This is a ticketed event, and the Rathskeller has a maximum venue capacity of 300 participants.
      • Countdown to Kickoff ticketed event will be held from 2:30pm until 6pm. Thirty minutes before kickoff, the Rathskeller will allow general admission and serve as a watch party venue, with restaurant and bar items available for purchase.
    • Watch Party @ the Rathskeller (Saturday @ 6pm)
      • Free general admission. Restaurant and bar items available for purchase.
      • This is a ticketed event, and the Rathskeller has a maximum venue capacity of 300 participants.
      • Doors to Watch Party will open at 6pm. Countdown to Kickoff ticketed event ($$) will be held prior from 2:30pm until 6pm.

  • Marlins Games and Pickleball Tournament

      • All proceeds benefit the Patricia A. Whitely Student Emergency Fund, which assists UM students who have experienced unforeseen financial hardships due to a catastrophic life event.

    To fully engage in all Family Weekend activities, we recommend arriving in Miami late afternoon or early evening on Thursday and departing Miami on Sunday. 

    Please note that classes are still in session on Friday, and your student will need to attend classes on this day. We suggest that you check with your student about their academic and co-curricular schedule ahead of time.  However, you are always welcome to customize your schedule and flights to meet your family’s needs.
