Family ’Cane Kickoff is an optional, but strongly encouraged, two-day orientation program that supports the parents and families of new students. Family ’Cane Kickoff is designed to address important issues and concerns of new undergraduate families and provides important resources, relevant information, and opportunities to connect with administrators, faculty, students, and other families.
For most of the Family program, parents and family members attend different sessions from students, because the sessions are designed to meet each group’s particular needs and interests.
Registration
Students must provide their family members' email addresses when registering for 'Cane Kickoff via CaneLink. Family members will receive a separate email containing Family 'Cane Kickoff registration instructions.
Fall 2019 Schedule
- Incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students: August 12-18
- To determine your start date, refer to Housing Move-In Day/Time and if applicable, Pre-Orientation Programs
- Families of undergraduate first-year and transfer students: August 12-14
- Optional offerings on day of your student’s designated Housing Move-In
- Formal program for all families Wednesday, August 14 from 8:30am-7:00pm
- Recommend families that are flying or travel a far distance to do so on Thursday morning. Wednesday will conclude with Convocation and Canes Take Flight, which you do not want to miss.
