In Summer 2017, new first-year commuter students will be able to attend one of two Great Start weekend programs, hosted by the Department of Orientation & Commuter Student Involvement:

Session I: June 24-25, 2017

Session II: July 15-16, 2017  

Students may only attend one of the two weekend programs.

Cost

The cost of attending Great Start 2017 will depend on the date of registration:

Early-bird registration price

April 17 – May 21:

$75

Regular registration price

May 22 – June 18:

$85

Last-call registration price

June 19 – July 5:

$95

The registration fee includes weekend housing, all meals during the program, a t-shirt, and other spirit items.  Students who register will receive a separate confirmation email in the weeks leading up to Great Start outlining what is provided and what they will need to bring,

The online registration system will accept credit card payments only. Online registration will be available beginning Monday, April 17, at 9:00am.  Students are encouraged to sign up sooner than later, as these sessions fill up quickly. Admitted students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will receive an email notice about the program in the Spring semester.

The deadline to register for each session is at 5:00pm on the following days:

Session I (June 24-25):

Tuesday, June 13

Session II (July 15-16):

Wednesday, July 5

 

Scholarship Opportunities

If you would like to attend a Great Start Program, but do not have the financial means to do so, please contact the Great Start professional staff at greatstart@miami.edu.  Limited scholarship application opportunities are available.  Scholarship applications must be completed by May 21.
